About

I received my bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1983. In 2005, I began my tutoring career working successfully with kids from elementary school through high school. I have worked extensively with a range of learning styles including students with ADHD, learning differences such as dyslexia and slow processing, students whose test scores do not match their GPA, and average and honor students who want to expand their potential. I have raised three successful young men of my own who all went to their first-choice colleges.

What I consider my strongest qualification, however, is that I truly enjoy kids. To serve as my “degree on the wall,” I will quote a mother of a student I worked with via Skype on college essays: “Griffen said that tomorrow was going to be his last session with you. He said he was happy to be finished with his college entrance essays, but sad to be finished working with you. That’s the highest compliment I can imagine from a teenager!” For the record, I miss working with him as well.
